- Once we managed to have a good amount of footfall and a decent topline our focus shifted to work on the bottomlines.
- Our strategy for topline increase was to have schemes, discounts and loyalty programmes. Also we beefed up our inventory with good products
- There were certain products in the inventory only to lure the customers. Didn't help us in our profits but attracted customers to our store
- Once we got the steady flow of customers we slowly started replacing the products with other products giving us more margins. #Startup
- We also introduced our private label to leverage the equity of our store which we could create over the period of time. #Startup
- Now bottomline started soaring. We could see profits and business became steady. We were on the growth mode. #Startup
- Same thing can be applied for ecommerce. Let us take an example that #XYZ is an ecommerce/etailer which is well funded by VCs. #ecommerce
- The initial funding can help in creating a sizeable customer base.Most of the ecommerce giants like Flipkart Sanpdeal have already done that
- This is like creating a footfall at a brick & mortar store. But beyond this nothing great has been seen on these ecommerce markets.

- This does not help anyone. It is bleeding brands and the trade. #ecommerce thus has failed in creating new market and products
- In case of companies like HUL most of the products are created by other smaller companies and marketed by HUL. Something similar might help
- Ecommerce giants should look for smaller #entrepreneurs who does not have the national reach but can deliver good quality products

- The othr advantage wud b tht every site wud hve different products 2 offer unlike d current situation whr everything is more or less d same
